Wartburg Volleyball Headlines A-R-C Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—Honors continue to roll in for the Wartburg College Knights Volleyball squad as the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) as the No. 4 Knights headlined the 2021 conference awards.

Senior Kylie Bildstein was selected as the Most Valuable Player, while senior libero Katie Foster earned the Defensive Player of the Year award for the third straight season. Co-head coaches Jennifer Walker and Doug Frazell were named the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Bildstein and Foster are joined by Zaiah Quirk and Claire Marsh on the All-Conference honors list. Jayme Willemssen earned Honorable Mention honors. Quirk is a 2020 All-Conference honoree, while Marsh is a 2019 and 2020 All-Conference Honorable Mention team member.

Bildstein becomes a four-time All-Conference honoree, earning this award four of her five seasons. Bildstein, a senior from Dyersville, IA, helped guide the No. 4 Knights to their seventh consecutive conference title and first undefeated season in school history. Bildstein leads the A-R-C with 1.21 blocks per set and is ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division III with a hitting percentage of .431. Bildstein has earned six Offensive Player of the Week honors and has been named Athlete of the Week twice.

Foster collected her fifth All-Conference honor, having taken home at least one of the conference's major awards four of her five seasons. Foster was named 2017 Freshman of the Year and has earned the Defensive Player of the Year since it began in 2019. Foster was named Most Valuable Player in 2019 and has earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors twenty-one-times in her career. Foster topped the conference boards with 5.59 digs per set. In leading the Knights defense, Foster was key in holding opponents to a hitting percentage .088.

In their ninth season at the together at the helm, Walker and Frazell led the No. 4 Knights to their seventh consecutive conference title, a conference record of 8-0, and the first undefeated season with a record of 25-0. The Knights topped the league in digs (21.03/set), opponent service aces (.97/set), blocks (2.48), kills (13.28/set), hitting percentage (.260), and opponent kills (9.90/set). This is the fourth honor in the Walker-Frazell era and fifth honor for Walker during her time at Wartburg.
