MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – Wartburg men's basketball opened play at the Cruzin Classic on Sunday, Dec. 19 with a hard-fought 70-66 loss to No. 10 Roanoke College.
The Knights are now 9-2 overall and 3-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
In the first half, Wartburg had three scorers with six points which was 18 out of 30 of the Knights' first half points.
Drew Olson,
Codey Hicks, and
Marshun Williams all had six points to lead the Orange & Black to a 30-29 lead at half.
The Maroons were able to retake the lead behind 12 second half points from Efosa U-Edosomwan, who finished with 25, and eight second half points from Justin Kuthan. Wartburg kept the game close, but
Davis Roquet's 12 and Olson's 10 second half points were not enough to upset the No. 10 Maroons.
Game Leaders
The Knights were led in scoring by Roquet, who finished the contest with 16 points and three second half three-pointers. Olson also recorded 16 points and a perfect 5/5 from the free throw line to lead the offense.
Keagan John had two points in the first half but had a strong second half to finish with 10 points to round out the Knights' top scorers.

The Orange & Black continue play at the Cruzin Classic on Monday, Dec. 20 when they take on Baldwin Wallace University at 11 a.m. (Central Time)
