PELLA, Iowa - Wartburg volleyball took home their second consecutive American Rivers Conference match when it defeated Central College 3-0 to improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Knights have now defeated the Dutch in seven straight games and in 10 of the past 11.
Wartburg overwhelmed Central as they held the Dutch to a -.037 hitting percentage and forced 31 errors. The Knights won 25-20, 25-10, 25-16 and posted 38Â kills with a .224 attack percentage.Â
The Orange & Black (2-1, 2-0 A-R-C) will return to Levick Arena on Tuesday, March 2 for a matchup against the University of Dubuque (0-3, 0-2 A-R-C) at 8 p.m.Â
Wartburg jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the first set but the Dutch went on a run of their own to tie the game at seven apiece. The set continued to sway back-and-forth as the score stood tied at 19 before the Knights went on a 6-1 run to close out the frame.Â
The Orange & Black exploded out of the gate in the second set when they held a comfortable 17-5 advantage. The Knights continued to roll past Central and capped off the set with a
Sydney Rottinghaus ace.Â
Central managed to keep the third close early on before Wartburg rattled off an 8-3 run. The Dutch cut the deficit to just six but the Knights regained control and took the final set by nine points.Â

Natalie Clayberg paced the Knights with nine kills while junior
Claire Marsh added a team-high 16 assists. Defensively, senior
Katie Foster tallied a team-best 14 digs.Â
