Wartburg Takes Down Dubuque, Improves to 2-1 in A-R-C Play

WAVERLY, Iowa - Wartburg men's tennis captured its second American Rivers Conference victory on Tuesday, April 6 when it defeated the University of Dubuque 9-0 at the Meirink Family Tennis Facility.

The Knights (8-9, 2-1 A-R-C) will continue conference play on Saturday, April 10 when they welcome Nebraska Wesleyan University (1-2, 1-2 A-R-C) to Waverly for a contest at 11 a.m. 

The Orange & Black cruised through doubles play and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore Luke Smith and freshman Gregor Kincaid each recorded their first doubles victory of the season. The duo of junior Lucas Huffman and freshman Jackson Eells improved to 11-5 on the year when they came away with an 8-0 win during the No. 1 doubles match. 

The Marion, Iowa native Huffman continued his stellar season in singles when he picked up his 13th win at the No. 1 position. Freshman Nile Petersen earned his first victory at the No. 3 spot while fellow freshmen Sam Yoon and Alexey Petyushev picked up their first collegiate wins in singles. Senior Jared Hefel remained undefeated at the No. 4 spot as he did not drop a set in his victory.
