Wartburg to Host NCAA Softball Regional May 21-23

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Softball Committee has announced the 48 teams that will compete in the Division III Softball Championship, with Wartburg College selected as one of eight regional sites, welcoming six schools to Waverly, Iowa for a regional tournament May 21-23 at Lynes Field.

Wartburg will welcome the University of St. Thomas, Webster University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Coe College, St. Olaf College, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

The finals, hosted by Old Dominion Athletic Conference and city of Salem, will be held May 27- June 1 at Moyer Park in Salem, Virginia. All rounds will use a double-elimination format.

SCHEDULE
The six-team double-elimination regional tournament will open with four games on Friday, May 21-23.
  • Friday, May 21
    • Game 1: #1 St. Olaf vs. # 6 Wisconsin-Superior, 10 a.m.
    • Game 2: #2 St. Thomas vs. #5 Webster, 12 p.m.
    • Game 3: #3 MSOE vs. #4 Coe, 2 p.m.
    • Game 4: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 22
    • Game 5: Game 1 winner vs. Game 3 loser, 10 a.m.
    • Game 6: Game 2 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 12 p.m.
  • Remainder of tournament is determined after Game 6

Forty-one conferences received an automatic qualification (Pool A). One institution was selected from Pool B, which includes independent institutions and schools from conferences that do not meet the automatic qualification criteria. The six remaining teams were selected on an atlarge basis from automatic qualifying conferences and the remaining institutions in Pool B.
