AUSTIN, Texas – The
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division III volleyball teams Wednesday, Jul 14, with Wartburg's
Kylie Bildstein and
Katie Foster named to the Third Team.
The Academic All-American Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The pair were both received prior Academic All-District selections and are making their first career appearances on the Academic All-America Team. The duo also become the third and fourth Knights in Wartburg volleyball history to earn Academic All-America status, following Jenni Donohue in 2000 and Bailey Wilson in 2014.
Bildstein (Sr., Dyersville) is a Business Administration major with a 3.95 cumulative GPA. She is a three-time A-R-C All-Academic and All-Conference Team member and has totaled 767 (2.29 K/S) and 307 blocks (0.88 B/S) in 95 career matches. This season, she led the Knights with 22 blocks (2nd/A-R-C) with a .343 attacking percentage (3rd/A-R-C) and recorded double-digit kill numbers in a pair of matches during the season, including a season-high 17 kills with eight blocks versus Nebraska Wesleyan on March 27.
Foster (Sr., Charles City) earned her fourth consecutive All-Conference accolade this spring while being named the Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season. She reached the 2,000-career dig mark this spring, becoming just the second Knight in Wartburg volleyball history to do so. In nine matches this year, Foster led the Wartburg defense and the conference with 199 total digs, averaging 5.85 in 34 sets played with a .986 reception percentage, including a career-high 43 dig performances versus Cornell College on Feb. 20, which was six shy of a school record. She is also a two-time A-R-C All-Academic Team honoree as a Public Health major with a 3.80 GPA.
Wartburg volleyball won its sixth-straight share of a conference title this spring, finishing the 2021 condensed schedule with a 7-1 American Rivers Conference record.
