MINNEAPOLIS, Mn. —Cruise control was on as the Knights faced a tough Augsburg University squad on their home court. The Knights defeated the Auggies in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-20)
How It Happened
The Knights recorded the first service ace of the set as they opened set one, leading by two at 3-1. The Knights built their lead to as many as four early with a kill from
Zaiah Quirk. The Auggies weren't ones to be put away as they fought to take the lead at 17-16.
Allison Feigenbaum recorded a block to tie the game at 17 as
Lindsey Spolidoro recorded back-to-back aces for the Knights. The Knights went on a 6-2 run to finish the first set.
In set two, the Orange & Black took an early 9-3 lead on a Feigenbaum kill before extending their lead to 10 at 14-4. The Orange & Black kept their cruise control on, with kills from Quirk and Feigenbaum late in the set. The Auggies put together a 5-0 run late as
Kennedy Meister ended the run with the set point for the Knights.
The Auggies traded the opening points of the third and final set with the Knights before Meister,
Jayme Willemssen, and
Kylie Bildstein recorded kills to extend the lead to three. The Knights went on a 10-2 run late, taking a 15-5 lead. The Auggies came fighting back, to trail by four at 20-19 before kills from Bildstein and Willemssen seal the victory for the Knights.
Key Players
Meister and Bildstein led the way for the Knights in kills with 15 and 10 respectively. Feigenbaum led the team in attacking percentage (.412) as the Knights recorded 47 kills.
Caroline Kluesner,
Katie Foster, and
Claire Marsh led the way in digs, as Kluesner recorded 16 digs for the Knights.

The Knights best program start is a 7-0 record in 1998 before the Knights suffered their first loss that season. The Knights are currently sitting 6-0 after today's match, matching the 2011 and 2014 seasons for 6-0 starts.
Tournament Information
The Augsburg Invitational continues Sept. 11 at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis. The Knights will face UW-Eau Claire and St. Olaf in their final matches as the Knights look to extend their winning streak to eight.
Action will take place in Si Melby Hall throughout the weekend. Fans wishing to attend must wear masks inside the facilities, in accordance with Augsburg regulations.
