WAVERLY, Iowa—Bouncing back from a loss against MSU-Mankato, the Wartburg Women's Tennis squad swept Grand View and Hamline in action on Sept. 11 to move to 4-1 on the season.

It would come down to a singles final match for Wartburg against Grand View as the Knights defeated the Vikings 5-4. The Knights swept Hamline in the second match of the day, 9-0.

How It Happened vs Hamline

In the No. 1 singles position, Olivia Phillips posted scores of 6-1, 6-3, over her opponent from Hamline. Madison Overmann and Meadow LaDuke won in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches. Natalie Kaiser won the No. 4 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-3, as Gabby Flynn won in the No. 5 match 6-0, 6-2. Ambriel Jacobs rounded out the Knights in scoring, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles action, Overmann and Phillips posted an 8-1 victory in the No. 1 position. LaDuke and Jacobs defeated their opponents, 8-1, in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 doubles, Alyssa Guse and Flynn posted an 8-0 mark over Hamline as the Knights swept doubles action.

How It Happened vs Grand View

Phillips moved to 4-0 on the season in the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Sonya Orinteva of Grand View, 6-1, 6-2.

Overmann competed at the No. 2 position, falling to her opponent, 7-5, 7-5.  The Knights dropped the No. 3 singles match, as LaDuke fell 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 10-3.

Kaiser, Flynn, and Jacobs won for the Knights in singles matches No. 4, 5, and 6. Kaiser would battle to a tie-breaking point to win the No. 4 position.
 
In doubles action, Phillips and Overmann posted an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 spot as the Knights would fall in the No.2 and No.3 doubles positions.
 
Next Time Out
 
The Knights travel to St. Joseph, Minn. for a pair of matches on Sept. 18. The Knights face College of Saint Benedict before taking on Minnesota State-Moorhead.
