Women's Tennis Set for Two Matches in St. Joseph, MN.

WAVERLY, Iowa – The women's tennis team is slated to travel to St. Joseph, MN. for a pair of non-conference matches against the College of Saint Benedict and Minnesota St. University-Moorhead.

Saturday, Sept. 18 - 9:30 a.m. – St. Joseph, MN. – CSB Tennis Courts
Wartburg Knights (4-1) at Saint Benedict Bennies (1-1)

Last Time on the Court
The Knights were last in action on Saturday, Sept. 11 when they hosted two home matches against Grandview College and Hamline University. Wartburg won both matches to push its record to 4-1. The Orange & Black defeated Grandview in a close 5-4 match and then swept Hamline 9-0 in the later contest. Olivia Phillips went 2-0 in the number one spot for Wartburg in the two matches making her 4-1 on the season in that position. Ambriel Jacobs made her singles debut Saturday for the 2021 season and went 2-0 on the day in the no. 6 singles position.
 
College of Saint Benedict
The host school, Saint Benedict, comes into Saturday's contest with a 1-1 record after opening its season last Saturday. The Bennies opened with a 4-5 loss to Southwest Minnesota State University but followed up with a 7-2 win against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Lily Fredericks started the season 2-0 in the number two singles spot for CSB. The Bennies have a 1-0 all-time record against the Knights with the last match being played in the 2008 season.
 
MSU-Moorhead
The Dragons will be making their season debut Saturday when they face Saint Benedict and Wartburg.  Last season, MSU-Moorhead had a record of 9-4 and played a spring-only schedule. The Dragons will return three upperclassmen from last year's team: Emma Anderson, Miranda Griechen and Mikayla Griechen. This will be the first matchup between these teams in school history.
