DECORAH, Iowa – Wartburg men's basketball won 74-64 against Luther on the road tonight to move to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Scoring Summary

• First Half
  • After going down 7-2 early, a Codey Hicks basket and Jack Molstead three pointer tied the game at seven four minutes into the first half
  • Hicks scored the next seven points for the Knights capped off with a successful three-point play
  • A Marshun Williams three pushed the lead to 17-12 for the Knights
  • A 9-4 Luther run tied the game at 21 a piece with just over eight minutes left in the half
  • After neither team could pull away, Luther scored the last bucket of the half to take a 33-32 lead into halftime

 

• Second Half
  • Both Molstead and Keagan John hit jumpers to start the second half, but the Knights still trailed by one
  • The Knights took their first lead of the second half after layups from Williams and Hicks to take a 40-39 lead
  • After back and forth scoring the Knights were able to take a 59-51 lead with 7:02 remaining in the game
  • Hicks and Williams both scored to push the lead back to eight, but Luther responded with a three pointer to make it 64-59 Wartburg with just under four minutes to play
  • After two made free throws, Donovon Smith closed the game with a steal and a layup with the foul to make the final score 74-64
