Women's Basketball Win 81-66 on the Road

FULTON, Mo. – Wartburg women's basketball defeated Westminster College 81-66 in a non-conference matchup on the road Saturday, Dec. 3 to move to 5-2 overall. 
 
Scoring Summary
  • First Half
    • The Orange & Black jumped out to an early 8-2 lead behind six quick points from Olivia Baxter
    • The Blue Jay's rallied to tie the game at nine midway through the first quarter
    • After the Blue Jay's first lead of the game, Jaedon Murphy hit a three pointer to give the Knights the lead back
    • Wartburg held a 20-18 lead after the first quarter
    • There were four lead changes in the first three minutes of the second quarter, but the Knights led 26-23 with 7:17 left in the first half
    • Wartburg led the rest of the first half and finished on a 9-0 run to take a 43-32 lead into halftime
  • Second Half
    • Lauren Woeste kept the Knights offense hot out of the break with two jumpers to start the second half
    • The Knights took their largest lead to that point of 19 points after eight straight points for Murphy, including connecting on back-to-back triples
    • The Blue Jay's cut the lead to 16, but the Knights got the lead back to 18 before the end of the third quarter
    • The Knights started the fourth with a made three from Murhpy, but Westminster responded with an 8-0 run to cut the Wartburg lead to 13
    • Britney Young hit back-to-back three's for the Knights midway through the fourth to keep the Knights in front comfortably
    • The Knights cruised to a 81-66 victory in the fourth
