Softball Set for Florida Games

WAVERLY, Iowa—Opening day is 48 hours away for the Wartburg Knights softball squad as they open the season at the Winter Break Games in Clermont, Florida.
 
The Knights are set to face Saint Mary's University (MN), Milwaukee School of Engineering, Rosemont College, Moravian University, Chatham University, Cabrini University, Adrian College, Eastern University, Calvin University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Husson University and Geneva College (PA) over six days.

February 27: Saint Mary's University (MN) at 1:15 p.m.
February 27: Milwaukee School of Engineering at 3:30 p.m.           
February 28: Rosemont College at 8 a.m.
February 28: Moravian University at 10:15 a.m.
March 1: Chatham University at 2 p.m.
March 1: Cabrini University at 4:15 p.m.
March 3: Adrian College at 9:45 a.m.
March 3: Eastern University at 11:45 a.m.
March 4: Calvin University at 9:30 a.m.
March 4: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 11:45 a.m.
March 5: Husson University at 8:30 a.m.
March 5: Geneva College (PA) at 10:45 a.m.
 
Series History
 
The Knights will meet the Cardinals of Saint Mary's for the twelfth time in program history. The Cardinals hold a 7-4 series edge over the Knights.
 
The Knights will meet the Raiders of MSOE for the fourth time, as the Knights hold a 2-1 series lead.
 
Wartburg and Rosemont will meet for the first time this week as the Knights and Moravian meet for the second time in program history (Wartburg leads 1-0). Chatham and Wartburg meet for the second time as the teams previously met in 2020 (Wartburg won 11-0).
 
Cabrini and Wartburg meet for the fourth time as the Knights have won the previous three meetings. Wartburg and Adrian College meet for the third time as each team claims a win in the series history.
 
The Knights and Eagles of Eastern University meet for the second time in program history, with the Knights holding the 1-0 edge. The Knights take on the Knights of Calvin for the second meeting (Knights won the first meeting). RPI and Wartburg meet for the second time, having previously met in 2018. Geneva and Wartburg meet for the second time, with Wartburg defeating Geneva in 2008. Husson and Wartburg meet for the first time in program history on March 5.
 
 
Preseason Poll
 
The Knights, who finished in second a season ago, received three first-place votes in the poll and 57 points. The Knights finished with a record of 26-10 overall, and 17-7 A-R-C.
 
The Knights and Coe College each received 57 points, while Coe had four first place votes.
