Wartburg women's tennis swept competition on their last day in Florida with wins over Adrian College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University back on Thursday, Mar. 3.
The Knights defeated Adrian College 5-4 in a close matchup after winning four out of six singles matches.
Natalie Kaiser,
Gabby Flynn, and
Bailey Sinnwell all went 2-0 in singles play over the day in their respective positions to lead the Orange & Black.
The team of
Georgia Nissen and
Chihiro Ono won the only doubles match for Wartburg against Adrian and was the only duo to finish 2-0 on the day.
The Orange & Black dominated play against Mount Vernon Nazarene with 5/6 singles wins and 2/3 doubles wins.
Season Leaders
Kaiser leads the Knights in singles wins so far this season with an overall record of 12-7. The freshman has played most matches in the number two positon, where she is 7-5 this season for Wartburg.
Meadow LaDuke has won the most doubles matches with 11 total wins this season. Her most successful partner is Kaiser, as they have an 8-6 record together with most matches being played in the number one doubles spot.
Series History
Saturday will mark the eighth all-time meeting between UNW and Wartburg dating back to the 1987 season. The Knights hold a 4-3 edge in the series and won the most recent matchup in 2019.
The Orange & Black are also set to face UW-River Falls in Lakeville, which will be the fifth meeting between these teams. Wartburg is a perfect 4-0 in matchups against the falcons with the most recent meeting taking place in River Falls, Wis. just a season ago, where the Orange & Black won 8-1.
