Knights Softball Set to Face Millikin in Super Regional

WAVERLY, Iowa— History continues to be made for the No. 25 Wartburg College Knights Softball squad as they will face the Big Blue of Millikin University in the NCAA Division III Softball Super Regionals.
 
The Knights (30-12) will face the Big Blue (35-7) in a best of three series, starting at 2 p.m. on May 20. Game two is set for 1 p.m. on May 21, with the if necessary game three at 3:30 p.m. Action will take place at the Workman Family Softball Field on Millikin's campus.
 
Fans are able to purchase tickets one hour prior to game time on May 20 and 21. Ticket information and more can be found here.

Fans unable to make the trip to Millikin can watch the live stats and live stream of all the games.
 
Previewing the Big Blue
 
The Big Blue earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament after falling in their conference championship. The Big Blue would sweep their regional, defeating Ohio Northern (5-4), Illinois College (7-0), and Alma College (8-1).
 
The Big Blue are led by Kendallyn Davison (.440 average, 38 runs, slugging pct. .704) and Grace Biondo (.357 average, 36 runs off 41 hits). Rylee Blake leads the team in runs scored (41) and Camryn Skundberg leads the team in home runs (4). Offensively, the Big Blue have batting average of .324 with an on-base percentage of. 416.
 
In the pitchers' circle, Addison Sargent leads the team with a .95 ERA in 118.1 innings pitched this season. Aly Armstrong has an ERA of 1.95 with 22 starts and 11 complete games. Millikin's pitching combines for a 1.47 ERA and holds their opponents to a .197 average.
 
A Look at the Numbers
 
Kaylie Springer leads the Knights with a .384 average, 38 runs, and 43 stolen bases. Sydney Illg (.315 average) leads the Knights with 42 runs scored off 39 hits, while Ella Link (.366 average) leads the team in home runs (12) and RBIs (50). Offensively, the Knights have a .314 average, slugging percentage of .487, and have broken the school record for hit by pitch and stolen bases.
 
Leading the pitching for the Knights is Ashley Nelson with a 2.72 ERA and .258 opponent batting average. Nelson has a 13-4 record with 24 starts, and seven complete games this season. The Knights hold a 3.42 ERA as a pitching squad, holding their opponents to a .266 batting average.
 
Records Breaking
 
Illg broke the all-time record for most career runs scored in the Knights win over Saint Benedict. Illg sits at 145 career runs; the previous record was set at 143 runs in 2009.

Nelson broken the record for most innings pitched, pitching 11 innings against Nebraska Wesleyan. The previous record was 10.2, set in 2002.

Several Knights have entered the Top-10 in All-Time Career and All-Time Season only records.
