CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Wartburg men's basketball fell to Coe College in a 94-84 shootout on the road Wednesday, Jan. 11. The Knights are now 5-10 overall and 2-4 in American Rivers Conference play. 
 
Game Summary

• First Half
  • Drew Olson and Jack Molstead both scored to begin the game for the Knights, but after trailing 4-2 the Kohawks went on a 12-0 run to take a 14-4 lead
    • Three three pointers for Cael Schmitt in four minutes
  • Olson ended the run with a three pointer and unanswered baskets from Molstead and Keagan John brought the Knights within three with 13:36 left in the half
  • Marshun Williams scored a layup to tie the game at 21 and then after a 4-0 run from Coe he connected with a three to bring the Knights back within one
  • Olson gave the Knights a 26-25 lead and then Williams added a bucket to make it 28-25 with 6:11 to play in the half
  • After it was tied 30-30, Coe went on a 7-0 run and led by seven with under three left in the first half
  • A Williams three-point play brought the Knights back within two and then a Donovon Smith jumper tied the game at 39 with just over a minute to go in the first
  • Coe scored before half and took a 41-39 lead into the break
• Second Half
  • Each team made a jump shot to open the half, but a Coe three sparked a 6-0 run that put the Kohawks up 49-41 early into the half
  • John made three second half threes in under a two-minute span to bring the Knights within as close as four, but Coe continued to answer to hold onto its lead
  • Coe's lead grew to as much as 14 with 13:24 left in the half
  • A Olson layup brough the Knights within nine points, but the Kohawks continued to fend off any Wartburg runs
  • Austin Bienemann connected from deep off a feed from Molstead to bring the score to 75-65, Coe in front with 7:09 to play
  • Trailing 10, Molstead made a three to cut the lead to seven but Coe's Schmitt hit another triple to put Coe back up 10 with 3:34 left
  • Wartburg got as close as seven but Coe held on for a 94-84 win over the Knights
