INDIANOLA, Iowa – Wartburg women's basketball moved its winning streak to nine with a 79-63 win over Simpson College on Saturday, Jan. 28. The Knights are now 15-4 overall and 10-0 in American Rivers Conference play. 
 
Game Summary

• First Half
  • The Storm got the game started with two made three pointers on their first two possessions for an early 6-2 lead
  • Back-to-back layups from Maggie Wilkins tied the game at 10 all with 4:40 to go in the first quarter
  • After baskets from Macy Harris, Wilkins, Jaedon Murphy and a three pointer from Sara Faber, the Knights led 19-12
  • Simpson closed the lead to two, but the Knights closed the half on a 5-0 run led by a Britney Young three-point play to make the score 24-19 after one quarter
  • It was all Simpson to start the second quarter as they scored 12 straight to take a 31-24 lead with 5:22 left to play in the half
  • After baskets from Wilkins and two made free throws from Murphy, the Knights trailed 36-32
  • A Simpson three gave the Storm a seven point lead, but a Harris layup cut the score to 41-36, Simpson, at halftime
    • The Storm made seven three pointers in the first half
• Second Half
  • Murphy started the third quarter with a layup and then a Taylor Runchey three pointer brought Wartburg within two points three minutes into the quarter
  • Harris tied it up and then later took a 46-45 lead with just over three minutes left in the third
  • After the Storm retook the lea Harris again had an answer, this time a three ball to put the Knights back ahead
  • Each team traded trips to the free throw line and Faber's last made FT tied the game at 51 heading into the fourth quarter
  • Young hit a three, but Simpson answered with a three of its own
  • Murphy scored two from the free throw line before Harris scored with five straight to put the Knights up seven with 7:21 to go
  • From 8:32 to 2:29 game time Wartburg went on a 18-0 run
  • Free throws from Harris, Faber and Wilkins helped close out a 79-63 win after trailing at halftime
