Knights Close Regular Season With 5-0 Win Over Buena Vista

WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's soccer closed the regular season with a 5-0 win over Buena Vista University on Tuesday, Oct. 24. The Knights are now 6-10-1 overall and finish American Rivers Conference play 4-4. Wartburg will now move on to the first round of the A-R-C Tournament beginning Saturday, Oct. 28.

  • First Half
    • Camryn Ray, Greta Rothe and Mya Jansen all got early shot opportunities before Lauren Kirkle recorded the first shot on goal in the fifth minute
    • The Knights struck first on the scoreboard when Natalie Thiesfeld followed up a deflection with an unassisted goal to give Wartburg a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute
    • In the 33rd minute, it was Nikayla Youngblut who rocketed a shot past the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0
    • Wartburg continued to dominate possession throughout the half and led 2-0 at the break
  • Second Half
    • Madison Frush got the action started in the second half after she recorded a shot on goal that was saved early
    • After a Rothe shot was saved by the keeper, Ray was there to secure the score and push the Knights lead to 3-0
    • In the 64th minute, Meredith Connor sent a cross near the goal that was finished by a Thiesfeld header to put Wartburg ahead 4-0
    • The Knights added a late goal when Izzy Sash found Maddy Badding for a score
    • Wartburg closed out a 5-0 win
