NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 7/7 women's basketball opened play at the Music City Classic with a 85-51 loss to No. 16/22 Whitman College. This is the first loss of the season for Wartburg as they move to 9-1 overall and remain 4-0 in A-R-C play.

- The Blues kept up a hot start and scored the next 13 points to lead 24-4 with just over a minute left in the first

- Murphy and Young both made shots late to cut the lead to 10, but the Blues scored at the buzzer to take a 40-28 lead into halftime

- Faber and Murphy both scored early for Wartburg, but the Blues had an answer for every basket
- Whitman extended the lead to 20 halfway through the third quarter
- Despite baskets from Harris, Young and Murphy the Blues closed the third on a 15-8 run that extended the lead to 69-42 headed to the fourth
