WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 7/12 women's basketball continued its undefeated start with a 65-41 win over Central College in Levick Arena on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Knights are now 7-0 overall and begin American Rivers Conference play with a 3-0 record.
 
Game Summary

• First Half
  • First Quarter
    • A Macy Harris layup and a three pointer from Jaedon Murphy got Wartburg out to an early 5-0 lead
    • Minutes later Lauren Donlea and Sara Faber both found Lauren Woeste for back-to-back layups that made the score 9-3 Wartburg
    • Faber and Grace Hennessy both made three's in the final five minutes of the quarter and the Knights led 23-7 after one period
      • Harris, Woeste and Lauren Golinghorst made layups during the run
  • Second Quarter
    • After Central opened up the second with five-straight points, Harris found an open Murphy for a three ball to make the score 26-12 with 7:13 left in the half
    • A seven point Central run brought the Dutch within seven points halfway through the quarter
    • After no scoring the next three minutes, Wartburg closed the half with back-to-back layups from Faber to lead 31-19 at the half
• Second Half
  • Third Quarter
    • Harris opened the second half with a layup and then another layup following a Young steal and assist
    • Baskets from Donlea, Hennessy and Murphy kept the Knights lead at 18 points with 3:11 left in the third
    • Young connected on a three pointer and then Taylor Runchey and Harris both scored at the free throw line to make the score 49-25 after three quarters
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Runchey assisted a Natalie Bearbower three pointer to begin the fourth and then scored a layup of her own to push the lead to 29
    • Central went on an 11-3 run to close the gap to 57-36 with 3:41 remaining
    • Ava Trettin and Olivia Baxter both scored inside the paint and Jenna Saunders capped off the win with a three pointer with an assist from Zoey Long
      • Wartburg won 65-41
