Knights Hold Off Bethany Lutheran 93-83 on the Road

MANKATO, Minn. – No. 7/8 Wartburg women's basketball battled Bethany Lutheran College to a 93-83 win on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 5. The Knights are now 8-0 overall and remain 3-0 in American Rivers Conference play.

    • First Quarter
    • Second Quarter
      • Wartburg answered five early points from BLC with a layup from Woeste and another three pointer from Bearbower to put Wartburg ahead 40-18
      • Jaedon Murphy found an open Faber for three to stop a Bethany Lutheran 7-0 run with 7:19 to play
      • BLC cut the lead to 18 with five minutes remaining and after two minutes of scoreless play, Woeste converted a three-point play at the line to put Wartburg back up by 21
      • The Vikings closed the half on a 10-2 run to make the score 55-42

    • Third Quarter
      • After each team scored in the opening minute, neither team scored until a Macy Harris three pointer broke the scoreless streak to make the score 60-44
      • Hennessy's third three of the game put Wartburg ahead 19 with 6:18 to play
      • BLC cut the lead to 10 with 2:30 left in the third, but the Knights answered with three pointers from Faber and Young to go up 71-55
      • The Vikings ended the quarter on a 8-3 run to make the score 74-63 headed to the fourth

      • Woeste went 1/2 from the free throw line and Murphy made a jumper to start the fourth quarter
      • Harris and Woeste both scored baskets to go ahead 81-68 with 5:56 to play
      • Murphy scored in the paint to go up 12, but BLC cut the lead to 85-78 with 1:59 to play
      • Wartburg was able to convert at the free throw line late and held off the Vikings 93-83
