WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 7/8 Wartburg women's basketball team defeated Simpson College 83-72 at home Saturday, Dec. 9.
Jaedon Murphy led the Knights with 21 points and
Britney Young recorded 10 assists. Wartburg moves to 4-0 in American Rivers Conference play.

- Taylor Runchey got the Knights scoring started making a jump shot one minute into the game
- The score went back and forth before Murphy and Young both connected on three pointers to give the Knights a 14-7 lead with four minutes to go in the quarter
- After the Storm cut the lead to one, Macy Harris scored six straight points, including one from behind the arc, to give the Knights a 20-13 lead with two minutes to go in the first

- Murphy scored the Knights final six points in the half to take a 41-29 lead into the half

- Third Quarter
- After a 14-2 run by the Storm to start the half, Harris and Woeste sink shots to regain the lead at 47-43 with four minutes to play
- Sara Faber and Young go back-to-back from long range to extend the lead to 55-49 with two minutes to play in the third
- Murphy connected on a three late in the third and the Knights take a 59-53 lead into the fourth
- Fourth Quarter
- Murphy started the scoring for the Knights with five quick points to push the lead to 64-53
- Faber connected on a three with 5:47 left to put a stop to Simpson's 7-0 run and push the lead to 67-60
- Following a three-minute scoring drought, Faber knocked down her third three of the game to extend the lead to 72-62 with 1:45 to play
- The Knights go 11/12 from the free throw line to end the game and hold off the Storm 83-72
