Nebraska Wesleyan Pulls Away for a 76-68 Win Over Men's Basketball

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg men's basketball fell to Nebraska Welseyan University 76-68 on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Knights are now 10-11 overall and move to 7-5 in American Rivers Conference matchups.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • Wartburg opened the game with a three pointer from Drew Olson and then scores from Codey Hicks and Marshun Williams to take a 7-3 lead early
    • NWU tied the game at seven before Jack Molstead hit a three to put the Knights back on top
    • NWU took its first lead with 13:28 left in the first half after a layup put them ahead 14-13
    • Back-to-back three balls from Cade Daugherty and Olson, and four straight points from Hicks put the Knights back on top 25-19 with 6:34 left in the half
    • After leading by eight with 4:31 to play, NWU put together a 11-0 run over two minutes that gave them a 34-31 lead
    • After three made free throws from Olson and a bucket from Williams, Wartburg led 37-36, but NWU scored on its final possession to take a 38-37 lead into half
  • Second Half
    • The Knights opened the second half on a 7-0 run that gave them a 44-38 lead four minutes into the half
    • The Praire Wolves scored the next six points to retake the lead, but a basekt from Williams and a free throw from Olson cut the lead to two with 11:13 to play
    • Peter Lash scored 10 points in just over two minutes of game time to help NWU go up 61-51 with 7:53 left in the game
    • Willams and Keagan John both scored to cut the lead to seven with 3:07 left, but NWU continued to get to the free throw line to close the game
    • NWU held on for a 76-68 win over the Knights
