Women's Basketball Hit School Record 20 Three Pointers in 83-33 Win over Nebraska Wesleyan

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg women's basketball hit a school record 20 three pointers and won its 11th straight game today with an 83-33 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Knights are now 17-4 overall and move to 12-0 in American Rivers Conference play. 
 
Game Summary
  • First Quarter
    • The Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead after a three and layup from Britney Young
    • It was 5-2 with 5:36 to play, but Wartburg scored the next 10 points led by five points from Jaedon Murphy
    • Maggie Wilkins scored the last eight points of the first quarter to give the Knights a 23-4 lead after the first
  • Second Quarter
    • Wartburg stretched the lead to 30 just two and a half minutes into the second quarter after three pointers from Sara Faber, Natalie Bearbower and Murphy
    • The Knights connected on five three pointers in three minutes of game time to take a 51-7 lead with 3:33 to play
    • After a NWU three, Lauren Woeste scored four points and Cora Saunders hit a three to put the Knights ahead 59-10 at the break
  • Third Quarter
    • Young started the half with a made three that put Wartburg up 62-10, but Nebraska Wesleyan answered with back-to-back scores
    • Lauren Donlea went 1/2 from the free throw line and then Bearbower connected on another three to make the score 66-14 with 5:15 left in the third
    • After a four-minute scoring drought, Young connected on another three pointer to put the Knight up by 55, but NWU closed the quarter on a successful three-point play
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Olivia Baxter scored the first point of the fourth after a made free throw and then Wilkins hit from three to make the score 73-20 with 8:17 left to play
    • Wilkins, Bearbower and Tatum Grubbs all scored back-to-back-to-back to put the Knights back up by 55 with 4:50 left
    • After two threes from NWU, Wartburg answered with a three from Saunders to close out a 83-33 win
