No. 14 Knights sweep Scots

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The No. 14 Wartburg softball team swept Alma Thursday. Ella Link hit a walkoff single to claim the first game 4-3, and the Knights won the finale, 9-2.
 
Game One:
  • Alma took the early 1-0 lead in its first at-bats.
  • This remained the score until the fifth when the Scots plated two on a two-run homer.
  • The Knights got on the board in the fifth and tied it at three all.
  • Alma was retired in order in the sixth and seventh to give Wartburg one more trip to the plate
  • Hannah Happ drew a walk, moved to second on Sydney Illg's single and scored on Link's single.
  • Sydney Fellows was 3-3 with two doubles
 
Game Two:
  • Wartburg took the 4-0 lead in the top of the second
  • Alma plated one in the bottom of the third on a solo home run
  • The Knights added one run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to extend the lead to 7-1
  • Lauren Frerichs hit a solo roundtripper in the fifth
  • The Scots would tally their final run in the sixth
  • Kailey Maksim hit a two-run single in the seventh for the final runs of the day
  • Kaylie Springer went 3-5 with two RBIs
  • Illg was 3-3 with a run scored
  • Fellows and Alexis Larson went 2-4
  • Frerichs was 2-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs
  • Reegan Deputy was 2-3

The Orange and Black return to the field tomorrow against Moravian at 9 a.m. ET and Cabrini at 11:30 a.m. ET.
