Baseball Falls to Loras 7-3

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg baseball opened up American Rivers Conference play at home on Friday, Mar. 24 where they were defeated 7-3 by Loras in game one of a three game series. The Knights are now 5-5 overall and 0-1 in A-R-C play.
 
Game Summary
  • Loras set the tone in the top of the first with a two-run homerun to left center for Max McCallum
  • The Knights were hitless through the first two innings and a sacrifice flyout for Loras made the score 3-0 heading to the bottom of the third
  • Garrett Helm and Will Armstrong recorded the first two hits for the Knights in the third, but no runs came across
  • A Loras double scored two runs in the fourth to make the score 5-0 after the top of the fourth
  • Another Loras extra-base hit brought a sixth run home for the Duhawks in the fifth inning
  • Wartburg got on the board in the sixth inning after Carter Stubitz singled through the right side to bring home two runs and cut the lead to 6-2 after six innings
  • After a single from Armstong, Zach Walton singled to score Armstrong to bring the Knights within three runs
  • Loras added an insurance run in the eighth and held on to win 7-3
