Baseball Sweeps Moravian in Doubleheader

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Wartburg baseball swept Moravian University with scores of 15-3 and 13-2 on Friday, Mar. 3 at the RussMatt Invitational.
 
Game Summary
  • Game One
    • The Knights jumped on Moravian early with three runs in the top of the first
    • Moravian scored one in the bottom half, but Wartburg answered with four more runs in the second
      • A wild pitch scored the first runner and then Wesolowski, Nicolino and Jurgensen all singled for an RBI each
    • Wartburg led 8-3 heading to the fifth, where the Knights scored four more runs
    • In the final inning, Will Armstrong scored after an Andrews sacrifice fly and then Wesolowski capped off game one with a two-run shot to make the score 15-3
  • Game Two
    • The Knights scored early again in this one with four runs in the bottom of the first
      • Andrews, Wesolowski, Nicolino and Jurgensen each recorded an RBI in the first inning from singles
    • Moravian cut the Knights lead in half in the third inning after a triple scored two to make the score 4-2 Wartburg
    • In the fourth, Wartburg scored four more runs to go up 8-2
      • Wesolowski singled to bring in a run and then a Jurgensen double scored two more. Noah Day singled to bring in the final run of the inning
    • The Knights added three more runs in the fifth
      • Walton brought in a run with a sacrifice fly and then Day singled to score two more runs.
    • Wesolowski recorded two more RBI from a single in the sixth that made the score 13-2
