Knights split with #22 Kohawks

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg softball team (14-12 overall, 4-2 American Rivers) split with #22 Coe (24-4, 7-1) Saturday in the inaugural Pride game.

First game
  • Five run fifth inning for the Knights which included a three-run double by Hannah Happ
  • Link two-run homer in the third to deep right centerfield
  • Another two-run homer by Link in the fourth to deep right centerfield
  • Fourth ranked team Wartburg has faced this season
  • Second win over a ranked team this season
  • First conference loss for Coe
  • Ended Coe's 12-game winning streak
  • Link went 2-3 with three runs scored, five RBIs, two home runs
  • Lauren Frerichs was 2-3 with three runs scored
 
Second game
  • Kohawks jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first
  • Added one in the fifth and sixth innings
  • Deputy broke up the no hitter with her single in the sixth
  • Link hit a solo shot in the seventh for the first run
  • Link was 1-3 with one run and an RBI
Next event
The Knights continue their six-game homestand next Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan.
