CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- The Wartburg softball team (23-16 overall) won its second-straight American Rivers Conference Tournament Championship Sunday in the 9-3 win over #23 Luther (31-8).

How it happened
- Reegan Deputy drew a leadoff walk to open the game and scored on Sydney Fellow's single up the middle for the early 1-0 lead
- The next batter, Sydney Illg, launched one over the centerfield fence to make it 3-0
- The Knights added to their margin in the next frame as Deputy hit a two-run homer to center to push it to 5-0
- The Norse got on the board in the bottom of the frame on an RBI triple, single and double which made itÂ
- In the fifth, Illg drove in two on her double down the left field line
- The next batter, Ella Link, hit the third two-run home run of the day with her shot over the left centerfield fence.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Luther had runners on second and third with two outs. The next batter grounded out to short to seal the title for the Orange and Black

Notes
- This was the second meeting in the title game between the two programs; the previous occasion was in 2007 which Wartburg won 6-0
- Wartburg won the tournament as the No. 4 seed for the second-straight year, which matches the lowest seed ever to win the tournament, as the Knights previously accomplished this in 2022
- Wartburg is now 7-2 against Luther since 2021
- First time Wartburg has won back-to back tournament championships for the first time since it three-peated (2006,07,08)
- This was Wartburg's fifth conference tournament championship
- Wartburg is 5-0 in conference tournament championship games
