Volleyball on the Road for Four Matches this week

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Knights are back in action on the road this week as the volleyball team takes on Grinnell College, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. This weekend Wartburg travels to UW-Eau Claire for a tournament on Sept. 15/16.

The Series 

  • The Knights are 18-0 against Grinnell all-time and are 6-0 when playing on the road against the Pioneers. Wartburg won the last meeting at Grinnell 3-1 in 2021.  
  • Illinois Wesleyan leads the all-time series against Wartburg 3-1. The Knights swept the Titans 3-0 in their last meeting in 2013. 

  • The Knights lead Beloit in the all-time series 2-1. Wartburg swept Beloit last year, which was the first meeting since 1994 between these schools.  

  • The Pipers lead Wartburg in the all-time series 4-3. The Knights look to win their third straight match after sweeping Hamline in 2021 and 2017.

Allison Feigenbaum leads the team in kills (100), blocks (29), and is second in aces with 12. 

Emerson Kracht leads the team in aces (13) and is second in blocks (14), digs (72), and assists with 125. 

Brooklyn Buysse leads the team with 128 assists and Caroline Kluesner leads the team with 108 digs through nine matches.  


NCAA Stat Rankings
The Knights rank in the top 100 of five national stats. They are 24th in team total blocks. 41st in team total attacks (1,056), 47th in blocks per set (1.93), 60th in team kills (332), and 65th in team assists (303).
 
Individually, two Knights are in the top 100 for a few national statistics. Allison Feigenbaum is 56th in blocks per set (0.97), 60th in points (106.0) and 25th in total blocks (29). Emerson Kracht is tied for 1st in triple doubles (3). 

Opponent 

  • Grinnell comes into this match with a 4-4 record and coming off three straight losses at the Macalester Tournament. Emily Brewer leads the Pioneers with 176 assists and Sophie Weber leads the team with 157 digs through eight games.  

  • The Titans enter the tournament with a 1-5 record after playing four top 25 teams in the first six games. Taylor French was named Hitter of the Week in the CCIW and has 106 kills through six matches. 

  • Beloit enters the weekend with a record of 0-4. The Buccaneers started the season off playing three straight games against opponents ranked in the top 25.  

  • Hamline brings a 2-3 record into the weekend with them. After starting 1-3, the Pipers swept their first home match of the season. Kaitlyn Kotek leads Hamline with 146 assists through five matches.
