No. 3 Wartburg hosts Buena Vista in conference opener

WAVERLY, Iowa-- No. 3 Wartburg (2-0 overall) hosts Buena Vista (0-2) Saturday at 1 p.m. in the American Rivers Conference opener.

The Series
Wartburg owns the all-time series at 49-30-3 which includes 11 of the last 12. This is the first meeting in Waverly since the 2018 season.

Hunter Clasen leads the team on the ground with 351 yards and six touchdowns. Nile McLaughlin has thrown for 447 yards and three scores.

Thor Maakestad leads the receivers with 178 yards on six catches and two TDs while Drake George follows with 144 yards on seven catches and one score.

Owen Grover leads the defense with 19 tackles and Justin Grieff follows closely with 17. Jordan Downing and Parker Rochford co-leads the team with 3.0 TFLs. Rochford has four interceptions to date

Wartburg has won its last 20 home contests, which dates back to September 29th, 2018 when Simpson defeated the Knights 37-36 in overtime.

The Knights have gone 53 games without losing at home in regulation. The last home Wartburg loss in regulation was to Coe on November 2, 2013 (24-10).
