No. 5 Wartburg wins season opener, Clasen sets school record

WAVERLY, Iowa—The No. 5 Wartburg football team won its season opener 62-35 over Monmouth College Saturday night.

With the win, the Knights earned their 100th win at Walston-Hoover Stadium and moved to 15-0 in night home openers in the Walston-Hoover Stadium era (since 2001).

  • Clasen broke a 26-year old school record with his six rushing touchdowns. Trevor Shannon previously held the record with his five set against Augustana in 1997.
  • Clasen set a new career mark in rushing yards.
  • Rochford tied his career high in INTs
