Volleyball takes to the road this week

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team (6-10 overall, 1-0 American Rivers Conference) takes to the road this week for four matches. The Knights will open conference play Tuesday against Buena Vista (6-7) at 6 p.m. and then face Coe Friday at 6 p.m. in Cedar Rapids. On Saturday, the Orange and Black will face Grinnell and host-No. 23 Cornell at the Cornell Invite.

The Series
  • Wartburg leads the series at 53-11 against the Beavers.
  • The Knights lead the all-time series against the Kohawks 41-10-1. Coe swept the Knights in the last meeting between these conference rival's last season. Wartburg comes into this matchup 14-4 when on the road in this series.
  • Wartburg leads the all-time series against Grinnell 19-0. Wartburg beat the pioneers three sets to one earlier this month in Grinnell.  
  • The Knights lead the all-time series 31-12-1 against the Rams. The Knights are 9-7 when facing Cornell on the road.  

Wartburg
Three players are in triple digit kills as Allison Feigenbaum has 154, Abby Hamann has 118, and Emerson Kracht has 110.

Kracht has 224 set assists and Brooklyn Buysse has 219 as they co-run the offense.

Caroline Kluesner leads the team with 21 service aces and 168 digs.

National Stat Rankings
The Knights are ranked in the top 100 of seven national statistics. They are 33rd in team total blocks (98.0), 42nd in team total attacks (1,929), 42nd in team assists (588), 43rd in team kills (637), 56th in blocks per set (1.81), 74th in team digs (825) and 97th in assists per game (10.89).
 
Individually, the Knights have two players ranking in the top 100 of various national statistics. 
 
Allison Feigenbaum is 22nd in total blocks (51), 39th in points (206.5), 51st in hitting percentage (0.350) and 54th in blocks per set (0.94).
 
Emerson Kracht is tied for 1st in triple doubles (4). 

Buena Vista
Skylar Cole and Rachel Brockney lead the team with 139 and 133 kills, respectively.  Brockney also leads the team at the service line with her 26 aces.

Coe
Three Kohawks are in triple digits for kills this season as Grace Lueken leads the team with 119, Maggie Furlong with 114, and Kelsey Hansel with 101.  

Maddy Maahs comes into this contest with 470 assists through their first 14 games this season.

Grace Lueken and Gracie Urbatsch are first and second in blocks with 27 and 22 respectively to lead the Kohawk defense.

Grinnell

Keira Sullivan leads the pioneers so far this season with 132 kills through their first 14 games.  

Emily Brewer is first on the team in assists and service aces with 340 and 25 respectively.  

Three pioneers sit in double digits for blocks as Malania Miles leads with 16. Millie Leonard and Jenna Keller sit in second and third with 15 and 14.  

Cornell

Ilah Perez-Johnson leads the Rams in kills with 164 through the team's first 12 games. 

Carly Puffer leads Cornell in blocks with 38 while Grace Marti sits in second with 30.  

Clare Green comes into the weekend with 376 assists to lead the Rams offense.
