No. 11/12 Women's Basketball Hold Off Coe 52-45

WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 11/12 Wartburg defeated Coe 52-45 Wednesday night in a back-and-forth battle. The win moves the Knights to 15-2 overall and 8-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First half
    • First quarter
      • Coe started the game on a 9-0 run before Lauren Woeste made a layup and Britney Young connected on a three-pointer to cut the lead to four
      • Jaedon Murphy made a layup and Sara Faber made two free throws to cut the Kohawk lead to two with two minutes left in the quarter
      • Finley Fitzgerald finished the quarter for the Knights with a made layup to make it 15-11 Coe after one
    • Second quarter
      • Taylor Runchey started the scoring in the second half with a made three-pointer followed by two free throws by Macy Harris to make it 16-15 Wartburg with 8:30 left in the second
      • Lauren Donlea and Woeste made back-to-back layups to give the Knights the lead at 20-17 with 2:15 left in the half
      • Woeste finished the half for Wartburg with a free throw to put Wartburg up 21-20 at the half
  • Second half
    • Third quarter
      • Coe started the half on an 8-0 run before Murphy scored five points of her own to cut the Kohawk lead to three, with four minutes remaining in the quarter
      • Runchey and Woeste both made layups to make it 31-30 Coe with 2:30 left in the quarter
      • Runchey connected on a three for the Knights before Coe could answer with a layup to tie it at 33 headed to the fourth
    • Fourth quarter
      • Woeste started the fourth for the Knights with a layup followed by a layup by Harris to give Wartburg the lead at 37-36
      • Faber made a layup followed by a three-pointer by Harris to give Wartburg a 42-40 lead with 2:15 remaining in the game
      • Murphy connected on a three-pointer and made a layup to push the Knights lead to 47-42
      • Wartburg finished off the game with a free throw from Runchey and a pair of free throws from both Murphy and Woeste to give the Knights the 52-45 win
