No. 10/13 Knights Win 78-64 On the Road Over Luther

DECORAH, Iowa – No. 10/13 women's basketball defeated Luther 78-64 Wednesday night. The win moved the Knights to 17-2 overall and 10-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First half
    • First quarter
      • Sara Faber connected on a three-pointer to score the first points of the game and followed with a layup to give the Knights an early 5-3 lead
      • Minutes later, Grace Hennessy made a deep ball followed by layups from Britney Young and Hennessy on back-to-back possessions to cut the lead to three with 3:25 left in the quarter
      • Jaedon Murphy and Lauren Golinghorst made layups on back-to-back possessions to end the quarter and made it a 18-16 Luther lead after one
    • Second quarter
      • Faber started the quarter with a pair of free throws followed by a made layups from Murphy, Faber and Golinghorst to take a 24-23 lead two minutes into the quarter
      • Macy Harris added six points to the Knights scoring as she converted on two three-point plays, followed by a Lauren Woeste layup to make it 32-29 Wartburg halfway through the second quarter
      • Finley Fitzgerald made two free throws, before Golinghorst made a layup and Harris added five of her own to finish the half down 44-41
  • Second half
    • Third quarter
      • Young, Murphy, and Harris all connected on three-pointers as Faber followed up with a made layup to make it 52-48 Knights, four minutes into the half
        • The made three by Harris pushed her over 1,000 points for her career
      • Hennessy and Young each added a layup, before Lauren Donlea made one free throw to push the lead to seven for the Knights
      • Murphy connected on another three-pointer followed by two free throws made by Taylor Runchey to finish the quarter with a 62-53 lead
    • Fourth quarter
      • Woeste scored the first points of the quarter to give the Wartburg an 11-point lead, before Luther went on 5-0 run to cut the lead to six
      • Golinghorst made a layup followed by a three-pointer and layup from Faber on back-to-back possessions to make it 71-62 Wartburg with 2:51 remaining
      • Young connected on a deep ball before the Knights finished the game at the line with made free throws from Harris and Murphy to make the final score 78-64 Wartburg
