No. 11/12 Knights beat Dubuque 53-50 in OT

DUBUQUE, Iowa – No. 11/12 Wartburg women's basketball defeated the University of Dubuque Wednesday night 53-50 in OT. The Knights move to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • The Knights started the scoring early as Taylor Runchey and Jaedon Murphy both made three pointers to give Wartburg an early 6-2 lead
      • Sara Faber, Lauren Woeste and Murphy all made layups to make it 12-4 Knights with 3:34 left in the first
      • Wartburg never trailed in the first and taking a 15-9 lead into the second quarter
    • Second Quarter
      • Faber made a layup in the first minute of the quarter before the Knights were held scoreless over the next six minutes until Natalie Bearbower made two free throws
        • Dubuque went on an 8-2 run over the first seven minutes of the second
      • Murphy made a layup to give the Knights the lead again at 21-20 with 2:22 to go in the half
      • Dubuque held Wartburg to 2-14 from the field in the second quarter and outscored the Knights 13-6 to take a 22-21 lead into halftime

    • Third Quarter
      • Faber starts the scoring in the second half with a made layup to give the Knights the lead at 23-22
      • Faber made a three pointer to tie the game and a layup to take the lead 28-26 halfway through the quarter
      • Britney Young made a three with 2:16 left in the third to tie the game at 33 before Dubuque was able to take a 35-34 lead into the fourth
    • Fourth Quarter
      • Macy Harris starts the fourth with a steal that leads to a layup to take a 36-35 lead early in the quarter
      • One free throw from both Grace Hennessy and Woeste give the Knights a 40-39 lead with three minutes to play
      • Murphy makes a layup off an assist from Harris to tie the game 42-42 with eight seconds to play
  • Overtime
    • Harris got to the line and made both free throws to start the period to put the Knights up two
    • Young made a free throw and Faber made two to put Wartburg ahead 47-42 with 2:53 left in overtime
      • The free throws from Faber pushed her over 1,000 points for her career
    • Young connected on her third three of the game and Woeste made a jumper to give Wartburg a 52-48 lead with a minute remaining in the game
    • Young steals the game from Dubuque with a steal on a jump ball with three seconds left in overtime
    • Murphy ices the game for the Knights with two free throws in the final seconds to win the game 53-50
