No. 11/12 Knights Defeat Nebraska Wesleyan 74-39

WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 11/12 women's basketball team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 74-39 Saturday night in Levick Arena. Wartburg moves to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • Jaedon Murphy starts the scoring for the Knights with two layups to give Wartburg an early 4-0 lead
      • Macy Harris adds a layup and one free throw while Taylor Runchey made a three-pointer to give the Knights a 10-0 lead with 6:36 remaining in the quarter
      • Wartburg finished the quarter on a 12-3 run with help from Lauren Woeste and Lauren Donlea to take a 22-3 lead after one quarter of play
    • Second Quarter
      • Murphy scored five quick points in the first minute of the quarter before the Prairie Wolves made one from deep to make the score 27-6 Knights
      • After two Donlea free throws, the Knights went scoreless for more than three minutes before Lauren Golinghorst and Woeste made layups to extend the lead to 37-12 with 2:49 to play in the half
      • Wartburg was held scoreless over the last three minutes of the half to take a 37-17 lead into the break
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • Britney Young and Sara Faber started the half for the Knights with one three pointer each to make it 43-21 less than three minutes into the half
      • The threes continued to fall for Wartburg as Natalie Bearbower makes two threes within a minute to push the lead to 49-23 Knights
      • Finley Fitzgerald and Faber added a pair of free throws to a Murphy three to end the quarter up 60-27
    • Fourth Quarter
      • Murphy starts the scoring in the quarter with a three as Young, Woeste and Fitzgerald all made layups to extend the lead 69-27 in favor of Wartburg
      • Wartburg capped off the 74-39 win with a layup from Olivia Baxter in the final minute
      • Wartburg shooting percentages: 40% FG, 29% 3P, and 76.5 FT
        • Nebraska Wesleyan shooting percentages: 25% FG, 18.2% 3P, and 83.3% FT
