No. 10/11 Knights hold off No. 15/19 Loras in OT

WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 10/11 women's basketball held off a late push by Loras to win 59-57 Wednesday night in overtime. The win moves the Knights to 19-2 overall and 12-0 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • Jaedon Murphy scored the first points for the Knights with a three pointer to give Wartburg an early 3-2 lead
      • Sara Faber made a layup to cut the deficit to one with 3:43 to play in the first
      • Murphy finished the quarter with a layup to make the score 10-7 Loras after one
    • Second Quarter
      • Murphy started the second with another deep ball to tie the game at 10 early in the quarter
      • Britney Young and Lauren Woeste made layups followed by a three pointer from Macy Harris to give the Knights a 17-12 lead
      • Taylor Runchey made a deep two followed by layups on back-to-back possessions by Murphy and Woeste to put Wartburg up six with 2:11 remaining in the half 
      • Faber made two free throws at the end of the half to give the Knights a 25-19 lead at the break
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • The Knights started the second half on an 13-2 run over the first four minutes to push the lead to 38-21
        • Harris led the run with six points, while Murphy added four and Young made a deep ball
      • Woeste went on a 5-2 run of her own over the next minute to push the lead to 18 for the Knights with 3:47 to play in the third
      • Harris made a layup and Murhpy added a free throw to put Wartburg ahead 46-30 at the end of the third
    • Fourth Quarter
      • A Woeste layup stopped an 8-0 run by Loras to start the final quarter to cut the lead to 10 with 6:54 to play
      • Faber stopped a Loras 6-0 run with two free throws to put the Knights back up six with 2:43 remaining
      • Loras ended the half on a 6-0 run to tie the game at 50 at the end of regulation
    • Overtime
      • Faber got the steal and fastbreak layup to give the Knights a one-point lead halfway through the overtime period
      • Murphy made her third three of the game followed by a Runchey layup two possessions later to push the lead to six with :38 remaining
      • Harris and Runchey both added a free throw down the stretch to give the Knights the win 59-57
