Marshun Williams Eclipses 1,000 Career Points in 73-60 Win Over St. Olaf

WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's basketball moved to 2-0 after the Knights defeated St. Olaf 73-60 on Friday, Nov. 15 to open the Buzz Levick Tournament. Marshun Williams led the way for the Knights with a 30 point and 10 rebound double double that moved him past 1,000 career points at Wartburg.
 
Game Summary
1st Half 
  • Williams got the scoring started for the Knights with two layups, assisted by Luke Ladwig on the second bucket 
  • Following a 16-10 St. Olaf lead, Williams made a three to shrink the deficit to three points 
  • St. Olaf grew its largest lead of the half at 23-15 
  • Williams made a three to even up the score 27-27, assisted by Ladwig 
  • An Isaac Besh three pointer gave the Knights their first lead of the game with 2:45 left in the half, assisted by Ladwig 
  • Ethan Yungtum gave the Knights a 35-32 lead, Ladwig dished his sixth assist of the half 
  • Jachin Mertes made turn-around jumper at the buzzer to bring the Oles within one point at halftime 
  • Williams led the Knights in scoring heading into the break with 17 points 
 
2nd Half 
  • Following a jumper by St. Olaf, Williams scored the Knights first points of the half with two made free-throws 
  • A Williams layup extended the Wartburg lead to nine points, capping off a 10-0 scoring run. 
  • After another Besh three pointer, Lyle Olsen buried a three pointer to extend the lead to 59-48 
  • Williams scored his 1,000 career point with a layup at the 4:13 mark to extend the Knights lead to 66-54 
  • Ladwig scored the last bucket of the game to give the Knights a 73-60 victory
