No. 2/2 Women's Basketball Defeated 64-47 by East Texas Baptist University

BELTON, Texas – No. 2/2 women's basketball (8-2, 3-0 A-R-C) suffered its second loss of the season in a competitive neutral-site matchup against East Texas Baptist University (9-2) 64-47.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • The Knights' first basket of the game came after Sara Faber and Britney Young forced a turnover that led to a Faber basket in transition
      • Young found an open Jaedon Murphy under the hoop for a layup that made the score 5-4, East Texas Baptist in front, with 5:32 left in the first
      • After back-to-back three pointers from the Tigers, ETBU closed out the first quarter with a 15-8 lead
    • Second Quarter
      • Following two Faber free throws, East Texas Baptist made another three to make the score 19-10
      • Murphy and Faber both scored for the Knights to shrink the lead to 21-14 with 6:50 remaining in the half
      • The Tigers continued to score and stretched the lead back to 10 with just over five minutes to play, but three pointers from Young and Murphy cut the lead back down to six
      • Wartburg closed the half on a 5-2 run and the Knights trailed 30-25 heading into halftime
        • The Knights' five points were scored by two Faber free throws and another three pointer from Young
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • Murphy started the second half with a basket, but the Tigers responded with a three pointer to keep their lead at six points
      • Following two East Texas Baptist free throws, Murphy connected on a three pointer followed by a Young score that cut the lead to 35-32 with 4:53 remaining in the third
      • Faber scored two more points at the free throw line and then Murphy converted a three-point play to tie the game at 37-37
      • The Tigers made a three pointer to retake the lead and they led 40-38 after three quarters following a Lauren Woeste free throw
    • Fourth Quarter
      • East Texas Baptist scored the first four points of the fourth before Murphy made another three pointer for the Knights
        • The Tigers led 46-41 with 6:55 remaining in the game
      • The Tigers went on a 6-0 run to take an 11-point lead before Faber stopped the run with a layup
      • Young scored for the Knights to cut the lead back to 11 with just under two minutes to play, but the Tigers pulled away for a 64-47 win
