WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 2/2 women's basketball closed 2024 with a 64-62 home win over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

- First Quarter
- Jaedon Murphy and Lauren Woeste got the scoring underway in the first period with baskets in the paint to make the score 4-3 early
- Sara Faber assisted Murphy's second basket of the game to put the Knights ahead 6-3, but the Pioneers went on a 9-0 run that stretched over four minutes to take a 12-6 lead
- Murphy and Faber both scored in the final minutes of the quarter, but UW-Platteville led 14-9 after the first
- Second Quarter
- After a Pioneer three-point play, Woeste scored in the paint to the cut the deficit to 17-11 with just over eight minutes left in the half
- The Knights put together a 7-0 run to retake the lead 18-17 with 4:57 remaining in the half
- After a Platteville basket, Wartburg went on an 8-0 run to close the half and take a 26-21 lead

- Third Quarter
- Britney Young and Faber both scored in the paint to begin the second half for the Knights, but the Pioneers cut the lead to 30-28 with 7:47 left in the third
- Murphy scored the next five points for the Knights after a three pointer and a layup made the score 35-28 almost halfway through the third period
- The Pioneers continued to cut into the Wartburg lead, but seven points from Murphy and four points from Woeste helped Wartburg close the quarter in front 46-39
- Fourth Quarter
- After Platteville opened the fourth quarter with a basket, Faber scored two points at the free throw line and then Woeste found an open Young for three to give Wartburg a 51-41 advantage
- The Pioneers answered with a 9-0 run that cut Wartburg's lead to 51-50 with 5:45 remaining in the game
- Following a timeout, Faber connected with a three and Golinghorst scored in the paint to push the lead back up to six
- The Pioneers would not go away easily, as they clawed back to tie the game at 56-56 with 1:13 left in regulation
- Following another timeout, Faber made her second three of the quarter to put the Knights ahead three with 42 seconds left
- The Knights forced a stop the next possession and closed out a 64-62 victory after eight free throw attempts in the final minute of play
