Central Holds Off Late Push From Men's Basketball 66-61

PELLA, Iowa – Men's basketball's comeback attempt fell just short on the road against Central in a 66-61 loss on Saturday, Dec. 7.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • Luke Ladwig scored five of the Knights' first eight points and the score was tied at eight after two minutes of play
    • Central went on a 7-0 run that was stopped by a Richie Rosenblum three pointer with an assist from Gabe Trujillo that made the score 15-11 Central
    • Central strung together a 12-0 run to make it 27-11, but Trujillo stopped the run with a three pointer with 9:11 left in the half
    • Wartburg answered with an 11-1 run of its own led by six points from Ethan Yungtum
      • Knights trailed by three with just over three minutes remaining in the half
    • Drake Wemark scored the final basket of the half for Wartburg and the Knights trailed 32-27 at the break
  • Second Half
    • A Ladwig three pointer and a Marshun Williams basket in the paint tied the game up at 32 early into the second half
    • After an 8-0 run from the Dutch, another Yungtum three pointer cut back into the Central lead to make it 44-40 with 10:04 left to play
    • Central grew the lead back to 10, but the Knights continued to respond and a Williams layup and three pointer cut the lead back to three with just under seven minutes to play
    • Isaac Besh made his second three of the night to cut the lead to 62-59 and then minutes later a Brewer Eiklenborg layup kept the deficit at three with 1:43 left in regulation
    • Central closed out the game with a jumper to make it a 66-61 final
