Hawks need extra innings to seal win over Knights

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Wartburg softball team lost both games against Huntingdon Wednesday, but the Hawks needed extra innings for the finale win.

Game one:
  • First Inning
    • The Hawks plated four in the frame for the early lead 
Second inning
  • Huntingdon added two more on a two-run double to make it 6-0
Fifth inning
  • The Knights got on the board on an RBI single to centerfield from Ella Link
Sixth inning
  • The Hawks scored two more to make it 8-1
Game two:
First inning
  • Reegan Deputy gave the Orange and Black the early lead as she drove in Kaylie Springer on her single to center
  • The Hawks answered with an RBI groundout to knot it at one all
Third inning
  • Wartburg plated two on a suicide squeeze from Sydney Fellows and and RBI groundout from Link to make it 3-1.
  • Huntingdon sliced the lead to one on an RBI groundout to make it 3-2.
Seventh
  • The Hawks tied the game on an error.
Eighth
  • The Knights were retired in order to give the home team another trip to the plate
  • Huntingdon had runners on the second and third with two outs. The Hawks won on a walkoff single to short.
