Softball set to host Augustana for Nonconference Doubleheader

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg softball team (18-11) gears up to host Augustana College (14-8) in a non conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 20. Game one will start at 1 p.m. with game two starting around 4 p.m.

The Series
The all-time series between schools is tied 4-4. The Knights won the most recent meeting 10-2 back in 2017. 

Wartburg
The Knights enter the weekend with an overall record of 18-11 and an American Rivers Conference record of 6-2.

Kaylie Springer and Reagan Hassel are tied for a team high .366 batting average, followed by Sydney Fellows at .359 and Ella Link at .351. Lili Alvarado (.321) and Jenna Wiebenga (.310) round out the six Knights batting above .300.

Springer leads the Knights with 37 hits and 25 runs scored. Link is second in runs scored with 23 and leads the team in RBI with 25. Fellows is second with 23 runs batted in so far this season.

Wartburg has hit 10 HRs this season, led by Link with three. Fellows, Wiebenga, and Tarah Wehde are tied for second with two each.

Ashley Nelson leads all pitchers with 53 strikeouts over 71.2 innings pitched. Nelson has recorded eight wins and four saves this season. Hannah Luellen has a team low 4.21 ERA over 15 appearances.

Springer is seventh all-time in hits (169), eighth in runs scored (110), and third in stolen bases (96). Link is fourth in RBI (125), tied for second in home runs (29) and tied for second in hit by pitches (29).

Nelson is tied fourth for most saves (5), fourth in career wins (43), third in most appearances (102), fourth in most strikeouts (239), and sixth in most innings pitched (425.1).

Nadia Ranieri leads the team with a .484 batting average, followed by McKensey Stontz batting .400. Brooke Hartzell (.381) and Ashlyn Mathers (.333) round out the players batting above .300.

Claudia Buchholz has hit eight doubles so far this season to lead the team in extra base hits. Three other Vikings have hit five doubles. Stontz leads the team with 20 RBI and five of the teams 15 HRs this season.

Nadia Ranieri leads all pitchers with 97 strikeouts over 71.1 innings pitched. Ranieri has a team low 1.86 ERA and has recorded nine wins over 16 appearances.
