Softball Set to Continue A-R-C Slate at Home Against Simpson

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg softball team (16-9 overall, 4-0 American Rivers) travels to face Central (15-6, 2-0) Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Knights will host Simpson (23-5, 6-0) on Saturday, April 13 starting at 1 p.m.

The Series
The Dutch lead the all-time series at 61-31. The teams have split the twinbills the last two-straight seasons.

The Knights lead the all-time series against the Storm 13-12 since 2012. Wartburg has won the last seven games against Simpson. 


Wartburg
The Knights enter the weekend 16-11 overall and a 4-2 record in American Rivers Conference play. 

Six Knights have a batting average above .300. Reagan Hassel leads the team with a .382, Sydney Fellows is second with a .356 average, followed by Lili Alvarado at .346 and Kaylie Springer at .340. Jenna Wiebenga (.327) and Ella Link (.324) round out those above .300. 

Springer leads the team with 32 hits and 28 stolen bases. Link and Fellows co-lead the team with 21 RBI each.  

Wehde, Fellows, Link and Wiebenga all lead the team with two home runs.

Hannah Luellen has a team low ERA of 4.40 over 14 appearances. Ashley Nelson leads all pitchers with 48 strikeouts over 61.2 innings pitched. Nelson has recorded seven wins and three saves on the season.  

Wartburg is 119-135 on stolen bases through 27 games.  


Career Record Watch
Link is third in home runs (28), fourth in RBI (121), and tied for second in hit by pitches (29). Springer is seventh all-time in hits (164) and third in stolen bases (96).

Nelson is fourth in career wins (42), third in appearances (100), fifth in career strikeouts (234) and games started (60), seventh in most innings pitched (415.1) and tied ninth for most shutouts (six).

Hannah Higgins leads her team with a .380 average. Emma Johnson follows at .361, Rylee Dunkin at .349, Haley Bach at .333, and Megan Stuhr at .317.

Higgins and Stuhr co-lead the team with 17 RBIs.

Sydni Huisman leads the starting pitchers with a 2.93 ERA and Emma Beck has a team-best 43 Ks.


Simpson 

Megan Heidelbauer leads the Storm with a .481 batting average. Ashlyn Steen follows at .479, Caelynn Obleton at .412 and Katie Shaner rounds out those batting above .400 at .400.  

Alexis Ehlers leads the team with 34 RBI. Maddie Luderman and Alexis Ehlers co-lead the team with five home runs.  

Taryan Barrick-Wessels leads all pitchers with 48 strikeouts over 62 innings pitched. Kylee Tucker has a team low 0.88 ERA over 32 innings pitched.
