No. 10/11 Women's Basketball Continue Winning Streak Against Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 10/11 women's basketball moved to 6-0 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play and 13-2 overall after a 68-56 road win over Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday, Jan. 11.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • First Quarter
      • The Knights scored twice in the first minute of play after layups from Grace Hennessy and Lauren Woeste
        • Following a NWU three pointer, Sara Faber answered with a three of her own to make the score 7-3 after three minutes
      • Faber made her second three of quarter to make the score 10-6, but the Prairie Wolves answered with a 11-0 run to take a 17-10 lead with under four minutes in the quarter left
      • The Knights cut the lead to two to end the first quarter as Lauren Donlea hit a three pointer and Jaedon Murphy scored four points
    • Second Quarter
      • Wartburg retook the lead early into the second quarter as Woeste scored four points in the paint and Faber drilled another three pointer to make the score 24-19
      • Murphy, Lauren Golinghorst and Natalie Bearbower all scored for Wartburg over the next two minutes of play to keep Wartburg in front 30-23 with 4:57 left in the half
      • NWU cut the lead to as low as four, but Wartburg closed the first half on a 9-5 run, sparked by a Britney Young three pointer, that put them ahead 39-31 at halftime
  • Second Half
    • Third Quarter
      • After two Hennessy free throws stretched the Wartburg lead to 10, Faber drove to the hoop and converted a basket with the foul to make it 44-31 early into the second half
      • Baskets in the paint from Murphy, Hennessy and Woeste extended the Knights' lead to 15 with 4:21 left in the third
      • Wartburg closed the quarter outscoring NWU 12-9 led by five points from Murphy and a three pointer from Bearbower
    • Fourth Quarter
      • It was a quiet fourth quarter of scoring for the Knights as Brylee Seaman and Golinghorst combined for five points in the first five minutes of the quarter
      • The Knights led by as many as 19 in the quarter, but NWU closed the game on a 8-1 run that made the final score 68-56
