WINONA, Minn. -- The Wartburg College volleyball team (15-9 overall) claimed a four-set triumph over Saint Mary's (Minn.) (10-13 overall) Wednesday night at David R. Thies Arena.
The Knights opened strong, claiming the first two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-12. The Cardinals responded by taking the third set, 25-19, but Wartburg regained momentum in the fourth to close out the match with a 25-19 victory.
Anna Sash provided a team-best 15 kills, as
Whitney Klyn also found double-digits with 12.
Sophie Sedgwick and
Peyton Robinson each tallied three aces behind the service line.
Defensively, Sash and
Kaylee Koudelka each rejected a trio of Cardinal attacks and Robinson dug out a team-high 16.
The Knights swung at ta .153 clip, yet holding the Cardinals to just .107 to claim the regular season sweep. Wartburg out-killed Saint Mary's 49-to-36, while out-attacking in each set. As a unit, the Orange and Black served up nine total aces with 47 assists, 25 of which were credited to Sedgwick.
