STORM LAKE, Iowa -- The Wartburg College volleyball team (12-6 overall, 3-1 A-R-C) picked up its third conference win of the season Tuesday night, sweeping Buena Vista (5-11, 0-3 A-R-C) in straight sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) inside Siebens Fieldhouse.
Anna Sash powered Wartburg's front line, recording a team-high nine kills on a .381 hitting clip while adding two solo blocks for 13 total points.Â
Kaylee Anderson added four kills and hit .375, and
Whitney Klyn contributed five kills and a service ace.
Sophie Sedgwick steered the offense with 13 assists, 12 digs, and a service ace, while
Aspen Falk dished out seven assists.
Peyton Robinson anchored the defense with a team-best 16 digs and added two aces from the service line.
Wartburg's defense stifled Buena Vista, holding the Beavers to a .096 hitting percentage while totaling 49 digs and six service aces as a team. The Knights' strong net presence, helped shut down several Beaver attacks in the later stages of each set.
Set one was tightly contested, featuring nine ties and three lead changes before the Knights edged out a 25–23 win. Wartburg maintained that energy in the second, using a mid-set push to pull ahead 25–19, then finished the match with a decisive 25–18 victory.
The Knights finished the night hitting .100 as a team with 26 total kills.
After the win, Wartburg leads the all-time series 55-12, winning for the 10th time in the last 11 meetings and securing their third consecutive sweep overall.
