COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Women's basketball (4-5, 2-1 A-R-C) overcame an 11-point deficit in the final four minutes of play today to defeat (RV) Hardin-Simmons University (10-2, 0-0) 71-68 to begin their holiday break games in Colorado Springs.
The Knights were led by a career-high 29-points from
Katie Boulanger as well as a 17 point and 16 rebound double-double from
Corrie Harrison in her Wartburg debut.

- First Half
- First Quarter
- Hardin-Simmons jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute, but Wartburg responded with a turnaround jumper from Grace Hennessy and a three pointer from Lauren Donlea to tie the game up at 5-5
- Following another short 5-0 run from the Cowgirls, Harrison made a driving layup to cut the Wartburg deficit to three with just over six minutes left in the quarter
- Hardin-Simmons scored the next five points to take a 15-7 lead with 3:39 left in the first quarter
- Wartburg outscored the Cowgirls 9-5 over the next three minutes to cut the lead to four behind five points from Boulanger and scores from Harrison, Donlea and Emma Townsley
- HSU made its fourth three pointer of the quarter in the final seconds to take a 23-16 lead after the first
- Second Quarter
- The Knights began the second quarter on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 23-23 after free throws from Carly Rich, a layup from Harrison and a three pointer from Boulanger
- Hennessy and Harrison both made baskets in the paint to tie the game up at 25-25 and 27-27 with just under six minutes left in the half
- Following an HSU three pointer, Harrison made a driving layup with the foul to tie the game back up at 30-30
- Boulanger scored the final four points of the half for Wartburg to give the Knights a 34-32 lead headed into halftime
- Second Half
- Third Quarter
- Katelyn Aden began the second half with a made three pointer and Boulanger scored the next five points to build a 42-32 lead after two minutes of play
- HSU began to chip away at the lead and was able to cut to five points with 3:55 left in the third quarter despite a three pointer from Townsley and a layup from Laynee Hogan
- The lead was cut down to two points with 3:08 to go in the quarter and then after two minutes of scoreless play, Hardin-Simmons made a three pointer to retake the lead 50-49
- The Cowgirls added another three pointer in the final seconds to make the score 53-49 headed to the final quarter
- Fourth Quarter
- Hardin-Simmons made another three pointer to begin the final quarter to jump out to a 58-51 lead after two minutes
- Boulanger's fourth and fifth made free throws of the fourth quarter brought the Knights back within two possessions as HSU led 60-54 with 7:20 to go
- HSU led 68-57, the largest lead of the game, with 4:07 to play before Wartburg began to cut into the deficit
- Wartburg put together a quick 10-0 run capped off by a Hogan three-point play that brought the Knights back within one-point, 68-67, with just 1:20 left to play
- Harrison and Boulanger combined for the first seven points of the run
- After the Knights got a stop defensively, Aden knocked down a clutch three pointer that put Wartburg back in front 70-68 with 32 seconds remaining
- Boulanger added a free throw to push the lead to three and then on the final possession of the game, Hennessy came up with a steal to seal a 71-68 win for Wartburg
