COLUMBUS, Ga.—The Wartburg softball team opened play at the NFCA Leadoff Classic Friday. The Knights fell 13-4 to No. 22 University of Redlands in five innings and No. 10 Trine, 9-1 in five innings.

Redlands highlights:

• After a single by Carley Bredar, Bella Mulder hit a two-run shot for her first collegiate hit and RBIs
• Two batters later, Liz Kruckenberg hit a pinch-hit single to drive in Stephanie Kiefer
• Kruckenberg then scored on Sydney Fellows' single

Trine highlights

• Fellows broke up the no-hitter with her single in the third
• Pinch hitter Jenna Wiebenga had a solo homer in the fifth for the Knights' lone run of the contest

Top performers

• Fellows was 2-3 against Redlands
• Jillan Panther had two strikeouts in the circle, the first Ks of her collegiate career
• Fellows and Wiebenga had the two hits against the Thunder
