WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's soccer unloaded nine goals on Buena Vista University in its American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opener in a 9-1 senior day win at home on Saturday, Sept. 27. The Knights were led by a four-goal performance from
Sami Webster, who tied Wartburg's single match goal record today as well as a two-goal and two-assist performance from
Athena Sheets.
The Knights are now 4-6 overall and 1-0 in A-R-C play, while BVU is now 3-5-1 overall and 0-1 in A-R-C play.

- The Knights forced three corner kicks early into the match, with one Webster shot resulting in a shot on goal
- Wartburg got the scoring started in the 14th minute, when Sheets finished a pass from Nikayla Youngblut to beat the keeper and give the Knights a 1-0 lead
- Five minutes later, Hailey Chambers got behind the Wartburg defense and was able to tie the match at 1-1
- Wartburg retook the lead 2-1 after an unassisted Webster goal in the 27th minute

- Overmann found Sheets on the left wing and Sheets turned a fired a shot past the keeper for her second goal of the match and to push the Wartburg lead to 6-1
- Minutes later, it was Youngblut's turn to score as she got past the defense and beat the keeper one on one with an assist from Sheets to give the Knights a 7-1 lead
- Greta Rothe added another Wartburg goal in the 74th minute with an unassisted score to make it 8-1 with 16 minutes left to play
- A ninth Wartburg goal was added in the 89th minute when Alexandria Rocha put a shot in the back of the net to put the final touches on a 9-1 win at home
